In November, Asian FinTech was bursting with multiple events: Fintech Festival, multiple big and small launches, tours, conferences, workshops and talks.  Visa supported many of these activities because we believe that bold ideas, collaboration, diverse perspectives and new combinations of existing tools can benefit everyone.

On Wednesday night, Visa Innovation Center in Singapore hosted the Singapore edition of the FF17 pitch competition.

If you were unable to attend, here’s a quick snapshot of the event:

  • 300+ people,
  • 13 startups,
  • 4 minute pitches,
  • 3 judges,
  • 1 finalist that will go to Hong Kong in January 2017 to compete for the title of best in show at Asia’s biggest FinTech event
  • And an ultimate icing on the cake: an awesome volunteer innovator  Nicolas Chaussin

The lineup of startups was truly impressive. There were code-warrior advisors, a truly mobile Asian  payments aggregator, a crowdfunding platform offering Islamic-structured financing to SMEs, an AI-enabled customer engagement platform, as well as an innovative mobile biometric authentication solutions company which offers payment & loyalty program management services.

And the winner is… Mikko Pertez, whose company, Ayannah, works hard to provide affordable and accessible digital financial services to the world’s emerging middle class and unbanked population. Congratulations, Mikko!
