I am just curious to know what is the state of php interpreter and how many people are actually working on php-src? If I go through the commits on official GitHub page it's mostly nitic and few other guys. Apart from open source community, are there any big companies that are backing or maintaining the development of php language/interpreter? And what would happen if let's say few of the core maintainers decide to stop working on php?
