Hi - I am new to the Visa Developer API's. Can someone help me understand - I work for a financial institution, and I'd like to be able to provision a card outside of our online banking environment. Is this possible, or does everything have to go through the native iOS/Android functionality? We are primarily a C#/.NET development shop.
Hey @kclark1515,
I'm happy to help answer your question. I'm checking with the Visa In-App Provisioning API product team, and I'll get back to you soon on this. Visa In-App Provisioning API documentation is available to the public. Please see links below for information and let us know if you have questions..
Visa In-App Provisioning Overview - https://developer.visa.com/capabilities/visa-in-app-provisioning
Visa In-App Provisioning Documentation - https://developer.visa.com/capabilities/visa-in-app-provisioning/docs-getting-started
Visa In-App Provisioning API Reference - https://developer.visa.com/capabilities/visa-in-app-provisioning/reference
Thank you! I'm looking forward to hearing what the Visa In-App Provisioning API product team has to say about this. I have reviewed the documentation, and it appears as though the calls require specific information from the phone/device itself - which is why I'm questioning how I could consume this functionality outside of a native iOS/Android app.
Hi - any update on this? Thank you.
Hey @kclark1515,
I'm happy to answer your query and my apologies for the delayed response. For the Visa In-App Provisioning API, the expectation is a cardholder is logged into the banking app and pushing a button there to provision the card to Pay wallet.
Please let us know if you have other questions and someone will be happy to help.
Hi - I do understand that the cardholder should be logged into an online banking app. But we have the ability to build custom widgets in our online banking platform. We do NOT have access to the native phone functionality, but we DO have the ability to call 3rd party API's via the custom widgets we build within our online banking app. So do we need the ability to call specific native iOS/Android functions via Swift, objective-c, etc., or are all of the in-app proivisioning calls able to be utilized via a web API?
Thank you -
Kristin
