Can I use Xpaytoken instead of ssl

HI I am trying to integrate payment account validation API. the authentication method mentioned there is two way ssl. can I use x-pay token also. because when I was registering to the portal it was mentioned you can choose either of this.

The authentication method for Payment Account Validation is two-way SSL. You can view authentication method information here.
