API de compte virtuel

Hello
I am a new member of the visa developer community I am working on a Virtual Account API Request project corresponding to the travel use case

we are a fintech that develops online payment solutions and we want to know for this specific case with this API; what type of bank account we must open in order to link it to the API so that the API visa can calculate the card numbers by token and that all transactions are done on our account.
We don't want to have to deal with the money processor of a bank and according to the documentation this is possible through a "pseudo-account"

Re: API de compte virtuel

Hi @fritz,

The B2B Virtual Account Payment Method APIs are utilized in context of a company. The funding account/PAN is usually provided by the issuer and is specific to a corporate buyer.

Please note that the B2B Virtual Account Payment Method APIs currently available for use in North America and Europe, and has limited availability in other regions.

A couple of initial questions:

  • Which countries will you be using the B2B Virtual Account Payment Method APIs for?
  • Who are your customers?
  • What is the use case that you are considering the B2B Virtual Account Payment Method APIs for?

Best,
Stacey

Re: API de compte virtuel

Hello Thank you for your quite uplifting response. We are an African Fintech which offers various solutions in the digital domain and here we aim to facilitate online purchases and subscriptions (Amazon, Netflix, Facebook ads, google ads etc ...) given the complex process of obtaining 'a bank card in africa we want to offer the possibility to all africans (CEMAC) to easily and quickly have a virtual card for their purchases and subscriptions from their chair at home thanks to our mobile application. We are working on this project with BANQUE BICEC. and the API chosen corresponds to that of a temporary virtual visa card for a trip by a non-employee in a company. It clearly meets our expectations. We give virtual cards to our customers with well-defined and controlled restrictions and then all transactions on virtual cards pass through our bank account at BICEC. the concern is to know what type of account should we use at the bank so as not to have to use their money processor? so that the API can calculate the numbers of temporary virtual cards assigned to the customer

Re: API de compte virtuel

Hi @fritz,

Thank you for your patience. B2B Virtual Account Payment Method does support pseudo accounts and it does not require that Visa is integrated with the processor nor that you are integrated with the processor.  However, an issuer is required for use of B2B Virtual Account Payment Method.  Here are some key points to how this works.

Issuing (ISO) BIN and Issuer relationship

  • Fintech must partner with an issuer. Technically, the Issuer uses our service (so will need to sign up for our service) and you will use the service OBO the issuer
  • Often Fintechs use a Issuing (ISO) BIN Sponsor in the scenario you are describing
  • B2B Virtual Account Payment Method supports Commercial and Small Business Issuing (ISO) BINs
  • B2B Virtual Account Payment Method supports Credit Cards, does not support Debit or Prepaid
  • The issuer must be certified on pseudo accounts
  • Issuers are involved in the Issuing (ISO) BIN and Bank level configurations across dependent products

Pseudo Account Functionality

  • For pseudo accounts, there is a parent account this is generated by the processor
  • Then the parent account is submitted to our VPA platform (via API by fintech or via UI by issuer). PCI is required if you will be providing the full 16 digit PAN via API
  • Children are generated off of the parent
  • You will have access to the pool of child pseudo accounts
  • These pseudo accounts are what is provided to the end user to make a purchase
  • Pseudo accounts do not require processor integration ( i.e. we do not need direct connectivity to the processor)
  • There are implications if not integrated, e.g. any updates to the parent account has to be done manually at processor and at VPA

Availability

B2B Virtual Account Payment Method has limited availability in CEMEA (Africa) in that availability will depend on how the issuer processes transactions.  Most of the features of B2B Virtual Account Payment Method utilizes Visa Payment Controls to set authorization level controls on accounts, a required security feature in some cases. We can only set these controls if transaction flow through VisaNet. So, it will depend on the issuer.

Hope this helps, please let us know if you have more questions.

Best,
Stacey
