Cardholder onboarding

@API_Products Thanks for your reply.  Very clear. I have a follow up question:

We are issuing our own prepaid Visa card for our customers. We are building out our merchant ecosystem so our cardholders can get rewarded for purchases made with any of our partners.

Once a merchant is properly onboarded and their offer is registered with us, do cardholders still have to enrol with VOP? Can we do that for them? I don't really understand this part.

Thanks for the help!

Carlo

Re: Cardholder onboarding

Hi @carlo,

Please see the “How Does It Work” section below for the flow or click on this link here - https://developer.visa.com/capabilities/vop

How Does It Work?
Visa Offers Platform provides clients the ability to receive qualified transaction information for enrolled cardholders based on predefined offers. This information can be used to provide a seamless shopping experience by providing meaningful offers to card holders and enhance loyalty.

1. Merchant Onboarding
In order to target specific customers for Visa Offers Platform, merchants must be first on-boarded to the Visa Offers Platform community with their specific configuration.

2. Offer Set up
Once on-boarded to the Visa Offers Platform, clients can set up specific offers for their cardholders. When a qualified event happens during a customer transaction, the Visa Offers Platform will notify the client via End Point Messages.

3. Cardholder Enrollment
Through the appropriate marketing channels, cardholders must enroll into the Visa Offers Platform to be able to participate in card-linked offers.

4. Offer Activation
The Offer Activation model can be used for opt-in offers. The cardholder must choose to opt-in for a particular offer and the VOP client will need to activate the cardholder for the specific offer.

5. Statement Credit
For any qualified transaction, the clients can choose to provide statement credits to the cardholder. Clients must provide the exact statement credit amount, currency and user information in the request.

For information about VOP APIs, take a look at its API Reference guide here - https://developer.visa.com/capabilities/vop/reference

Thanks,

Diana H.

Re: Cardholder onboarding

Thanks for this @API_Products . I've read the how it works. I don't understand #3 and #4.

- What does enrolment into the Visa Offers Platform for cardholders entail?

- "Cardholders must chose to opt in for a particular offer" - For our use case, it is implied that all cardholders can participate in every offer available to them simply by transacting with their card at any participating merchant. Once they are enrolled, the expectation is that cardholders will be opted in for all offers automatically. Is this not the case?

Thanks Diana

Re: Cardholder onboarding

Hi @carlo,

Please see my inline answers to your query below.

- What does enrolment into the Visa Offers Platform for cardholders entail?

[Diana] Enrollment technically consists of an API call to enroll the 16 digit credit/debit card number into the Visa Offers Platform. From a user interface perspective the partner must provide an enrollment experience that includes obtaining proper just-in-time consent from the cardholder when they enroll their card.

[Diana] It is up to the publisher whether they require the enrolled user to activate each merchant offer OR if by enrolling in the program they are auto-activated into all merchant offers available in the program.

Thanks,

Diana H.
