Hi, my company is developing a shopping website where my customers can use their Visa card to pay (by inputting the number, holder name, and CVV).
I've researched and chosen to use Visa Direct - Funds Transfer APIs (with the pull and push steps to proceed with the payment).
I've successfully built the website with the Visa sandbox environment. Now I'm working on the request to go live and is required to be sponsored by a licensed Visa acquirer. I have some questions:
- Are the Visa Direct - Funds Transfer APIs best suited for my needs?
- What is a licensed Visa acquirer? Is the bank where I opened my company's Visa account a valid acquirer?
Thank you very much.
Hi @minhzc, Thank you for reaching out. One of our agents will get back to you soon. Until then, if any community members have information that may help, feel free to reply to this thread.
Hey @minhzc,
Yes, you can use Visa Direct. You can also Browse Products by filtering our Payments Methods located on left under the Capabilities section to choose the API that best fits your use case. There's also Visa Mobile.
To answer your second question, it is recommended that you look for an acquirer bank first who is willing to work with you before you even start Visa Direct integration and testing.
You will need a sponsor (Acquirer bank), who can do settlement for you. Acquirer means banks who can accept payments. You will have to develop a relationship with visa acquirer banks, which will help you create an account to do settlement on behalf of your clients which has different bank’s issued cards.
Merchants must work with an acquiring bank that will process their payments. An acquiring bank (also known simply as an acquirer) is a bank or financial institution that processes credit or debit card payments on behalf of a merchant. The acquirer allows merchants to accept credit card payments from the card-issuing banks within an association.
Issuer banks issue cards and acquirer banks acquire transaction for settlement. Read more on payment settlement through publically available resources and through our Visa website. Please refer to publically available material and our site to educate yourself with the payment industry and how issuer/acquirer works for transaction settlement.
When contacting a Visa licensed acquirer, make sure to tell them you're looking for a Visa Direct acquirer. That's because not all Visa licensed acquirers are enabled to sponsor Visa Direct programs.
