I want to implement the Payment Account Validation API and I read that as input it accepts the Primary Account Number and performs account verification. What is the primary account number?....Is it the number on the face of the credit card? I've been trying to look into this online and I'm still a little confused on where this number is found.
Thanks!
Hi Jimtoby,
check out the test data, the VISA API portal will provide you primary account number that you can use.
Hello @Kennethrayg
I saw the test data but I'm trying to understand if I can use this API in a real life situation because I'd need to know if I have access to a customers PAN. So that is why I want to know what the PAN really is. Is it the credit card number?
Hi Jimtoby,
Yes, you can use the same API provided you are connected to the live version of the VISA API and using a real customer PAN
cheers
Hi @jimtoby,
That's a good question! The Primary Account Number (PAN) is a number embossed and/or encoded on payment cards and tokens that identifies the card issuer and the funding account and is used for transaction routing. PAN has 16 digits for US and could be ranged between 16-19 digits outside USA for VISA. PAN data will be generated by Issuer banks only. For PAN information processing you need PCI/DSS Compliance.
For Payment Account Validation PAN test data that you can use for your testing, please see the photo attachment.
