Hi Moshiko,

Great question!

In order to an eligible originator to perform the Visa Direct services you are required to procure an Acquiring BIN from a sponsoring financial institution.

Please refer to the section on "An Acquiring BIN and its Country Code" at the following URL  https://developer.visa.com/products/visa_direct/guides

Hope this helps - let me know if you have any further questions!

Cheers-

Ricardo

Re: What qualifies as "eligible third parties such as person-to-person payment service provider

Hi,

So to be able to use the VISA Direct api, we would need to obtain an Acquiring BIN.

If my local bank issue VISA cards, is it an eligible party to provide the Acquiring BIN? If yes, what documents do i need to make a request for an Acquiring BIN.

There is seriously a lack of information to get started with the Visa Direct.

Hey Yuv,

Happy to help here!

Sponsoring banks control the entire BIN Sponsorship process.  From what Visa knows, in that process, banks can sometimes require specific documents or other business case requirements in order to sponsor you, that is up to the bank.

We encourage you to connect with a bank to know more about their on-boarding process as each bank does these things differently.

Hope this helps!
