Step by step process for getting onboarded with Visa

Dear Team,

We are a start up Digital Mobile Wallet Company and would like to have a step by step process for getting the BIN, BID (with VISA)  etc. We have found that VISA Direct - VISA Card on File solutions (API)  are suiting our business requirements as per our Developers for our Mobile Wallet App.  Below are the 2 requirements that we are looking for :

a) Require the VISA platform as a Merchant to collect payments from my Clients who would like to pay with their Credit or Debit cards.

b) We would like to issue a Virtual VISA Debit cards (no physical) to all our Wallet account holders so that they can make payments on POS terminals from the Mobile Wallet app using NFS technology.

I would like to getting in touch with a Business Development Manager of VISA in Toronto, Canada  for discussing the Pricing Structure and (BID & BIN) processes that we need to follow for taking the next step. I understand that we need to get the Project approved by VISA. Kindly share the process for submitting the Project to VISA for approval.

Regards,

Re: Step by step process for getting onboarded with Visa

Hey @MAPLEPAYWALLETS,

We're happy to hear that you're interested in Visa Direct and that you're ready to promote your project to production to get a BID.

To promote your project into Production, please follow these steps:

1. Log in to the Developer Portal
2. Click on Create New Project
3. Specify Project Name and Project Description
4. Select the APIs you are interested to use in your project.
5. Select Generate a CSR for me (default) or Submit my own CSR
2. In the menu on the left side of the project page, click “Going Live.”
3. Provide in the information requested in the Going Live form, then complete the “Going Live Request Form.”
4. Click “Submit.”

Once completed, your information will be reviewed by our internal teams and either enabled or disabled based on the results of the review. Please note, completing this form does not guarantee production access will be granted. All requests to be taken into production require valid Business information to be submitted in the Going Live Request. Failure to use valid information may return an error when completing the form to request Production access.

Re: Step by step process for getting onboarded with Visa

Hey @MAPLEPAYWALLETS,

Please see my inline answers to your questions below.

a) How to get a BIN ? Is it mandatory to create a BIN through a Bank.

[Answer] Sponsoring banks control the entire BIN Sponsorship process. You can get BIN through issuing banks/acquiring banks.

b) How can we become issues for virtual Visa Debit cards for our Wallet account holders

[Answer] The closest thing we have to a virtual card is the Visa Token Service product. For info on VTS, please go here - https://developer.visa.com/capabilities/vts

If the question is for card issuance, you would need to work with an Issuing Bank rather than Visa. Visa is a processor, not an issuer and does not issue Visa debit/credit/prepaid/gift/physical/virtual cards. Visa works with issuing banks to issue Visa cards. For services related to the issuance of cards, you will need to find an issuing bank to issue cards. Please contact a local issuer bank.

c) How can I get the pricing for VISA Direct transactions.. (this is the most important for me)

[Answer] Since VDP is an open platform, there's no cost to you to develop your application using any of the APIs in the sandbox.  When you're ready to transition to production use of the APIs, there are fees for each of the APIs that are used. Fees are evaluated by application,  as they are a function of many elements, including the nature of your application and your relationship with any existing Visa partner.  We treat production applications on a case-by-case basis and work with you to determine appropriate pricing.

d) How to get in touch with a Business Development Manager of VISA , Canada to speak up?

[Answer] Can you please let us know the questions you have for the Business Developer Manager of Visa, Canada? I'd be happy to answer any questions that you have, if I can.

Also, please review the Visa Direct documentation using this link.  https://developer.visa.com/capabilities/visa_direct/docs

In particular, see the top few paragraphs, that are within the grey box with the exclamation mark, that discuss the requirements to use Visa Direct.

After having read the documentation, if you meet those requirements, then please click through the link in those paragraphs to the Visa Direct Program Implementation Questionnaire, fill it out, and submit to the email address listed on that form. A representative from the Visa Direct team will contact you shortly after and they will be able to help connect you with a Visa Business Development Manager in Canada.

Thanks,

Diana
