Is there a way to access a merchant's network ID without having to reproduce a failed transaction & look at the logs.
I am thinking an accessible database like https://www.visa.com/supplierlocator-app/app/#/home/supplier-locator
but that also lists the Network ID of the merchant. What's the most efficient way to access these Network IDs?
Hey @emilio,
I'm happy to help answer your question. I'll take a look and get back to you soon. Please let us know if there's anything else we can help with.
Great, thanks Diana for looking into this!
I look forward to your answer
Hello @emilio,
To follow up, Merchant Measurement doesn't require any network ID of merchant since Merchant Measurement API is anonymous and not merchant specific. Hence, the setup is incorrect.
Can you please let us know if you're interested in Merchant Measurement or Merchant Search or Merchant Locator? Merchant Measurement should not tie to any supplier locator whereas Merchant Search/Merchant Locator may.
Hey @emilio,
Adding to what I've previously mentioned, please note that the network ID is specific to transactions and not merchant. It is not directly available in Merchant Search/Merchant Locator currently but we could figure out the network ID associated with merchants internally.
Can you please provide more details on your use case to see if it fits the Merchant Search/Merchant Locator APIs?
Hi @API_Products,
Thanks for the answer, yes for our use case we need the network ID associated to a merchant. This is because in our use case the user sets specific merchants that are allowed or blocked to be used with the VISA card. So we reference the network ID of that merchant on an allow or block list.
Right now we have to create an authorization to capture the merchant's network ID. I am hoping for a simpler way like using the Merchant Search/Merchant Locator API to retrieve from a database of merchant's network IDs. How can I have access to the network IDs database?
Hey @emilio,
Thanks for providing this info. I'm happy to help and I'll get back to you soon.
Hey @emilio,
I'd like to kindly follow up to let you know that I've sent your use case to the product team for review. Also, just to add on, network ID is specific to transactions and not merchant. It is not directly available in Merchant Search / Merchant Locator currently, but we could figure out the network ID associated with merchants internally.
Please let us know if you have other questions.
Hey @emilio,
Apologies for the delayed response. This use case that has come across for Merchant Search in the past, as well. Can you please provide us with your email address and I'll connect you with a Visa representative from our product team to discuss the use case with you in more details?
