February Visa Dev Spotlight: Paul Earnest

This month our spotlight goes to @paul_earnest!  Paul joined the Visa Dev Community in November 2019, exploring with Visa Token Service.  In just 3 months he's moved up the ranks to Regular Contributor joining a small group of our most active and highest ranking members. Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself, where are you from and what are you currently working on?

 

A: I am Earnest Paul from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I work as an IT - Technical Architect for a Fintech Organization in Malaysia. Currently involved in implementing Visa Token Service for a Banking Client. Being a certified professional, I would narrate myself as a “Business -Savvy and A Creative Technology Strategic Thinker” focused on technical solutions to Banking And Financial Project Requirements.

 

Q: What interested you in the Visa Developer Center?

 

A: Visa leads the Payment Solutions with the latest cutting-edge technology. In my Mobile Banking Project, the “Tap to Pay Feature” implementation has led me to VDC for understanding the integration of Visa Token Service.

 

Q: If you were an API, what would you be? Why? J

 

A: Yes, why not. Definitely I will be happy, to be an API for integrating to a Proven Solution. 

 

Q: What do you love most about coding?

 

A: Reusability, Coherence and Modular Programming.

 

Q: What was the first thing you built with code?

 

A: Data Encryption Algorithm operated on 64 bit blocks using a 128-bit keys for one of the premier banks in Switzerland.

 

Q: What’s the most exciting thing about being a developer in the payments industry for you?

 

A: Of course, the digital trends in Payment Industry mainly using mobile application is a key motivator for me. 

 

Q: Any tips for developers exploring payments?

 

A: I would strongly recommend to become a member of Visa Developer Center. VDC is a Hub to learn the Suite of Payment Products with a lot of open sources and solutions.

 

Q: What has it been like working with Visa Developer so far? What have you learned?

 

A: Visa Developer Center enabled me to explore, enrich knowledge about Visa Payment Products such as Visa Direct, Visa Net. Timely responses from VDC Leaders lead me to master it. I take this opportunity to thank everyone in VDC.

 

Q: Anything else you want to share about yourself?

 

A: I love exploring new places and watching romantic movies.
