Visa Account Updater - Does there exist an API for Acquirers/Merchants?

Hi, we are currently looking into VAU for merchant/PSP/acquirer with a card-on-file repository. They are interested in using VAU to check for card updates on their stored cards. I was told back in 2019 that Visa planned on providing an API for this side of the payment ecosystem, but I could not find anything on Visa Developer Center. Only the Issuer reporting API.

Is there any news about VAU API for merchants and when this will be available?

Thank you for checking back on the availability of VAU API for merchants. Unfortunately we still do not have this API on Visa Developer Center yet.

Merchants and acquirers who want to obtain updated card information for recurring and credential-on-file payments must utilize either:

• Standard VAU—data is transmitted in batch files via a secure, direct connection between Visa and an endpoint, or
• Real Time VAU—integrates VAU into the VisaNet authorization process; requires an endpoint that can originate Visa transactions.

Hi again, we are starting to engage with acquirers/PSPs about this topic. I believe there was a VAU API for Merchants doc published in 2021 but we cannot find/access it

Visa Account Updater has been sunset, hence, it's no longer available on the Visa Developer Portal.

Please refer to our API Browser page here: https://developer.visa.com/apibrowser 

You can filter your search by checking the checkbox for Acquirer Banks and Merchants.

Since you're interested in an API product related to tokens, please take a look at our Visa Token Service APIs. 

From there, you can go through those API products and decide which one will be the best fit for your use case.
