Alias for Merchant Payments

Hi...

In our project we want to create aliases for our merchants... Question once a alias is created on our system can a consumer using any other VISA partner/issuer/acquirer platform simply put our merchants alias ID and make payment...?

In regards to the Visa Direct API product, Visa has a pre-defined merchant ID format, and the acquirer is required to adhere to this guideline to create the merchant alias ID. Hope that helps to answer your question! Have a nice day 🙂

Hey @SP19,

The purchase of Alias Directory is to resolve a merchant alias ID back to a PAN for payment, and the transaction processing still uses PAN. Hope this provides clarification to your question.

Thanks for replying... You mean purchasing using an alias ID is linked back to that PAN... This I understand. What about the directory, are Alias Directories shared such that customer A using mVisa can buy from merchant B using their alias even they are under different acquirers / issuers etc.. and B's alias ID was created by our platform...?
