Visa transaction control API queries
Hi,
We’re creating a loyalty solution for merchants. We would like for their users to link their card with the merchants and receive points for using the card at partner merchants. They can then use the same points the partner where they linked their cards. We believe visa transaction control API can help us with getting transaction notifications from the Visa network.
1. We would like to know if this is the correct API for our use case as on the docs it only mentions issuers. If not which would be the correct API?
2. Is this API available in India?
3. If yes, what would be the process to go live and how long does it usually take?
Thanks,
Marmik

Re: Visa transaction control API queries
Hi @marmikpandya,
Visa Transaction Controls (VTC) would work for your use case and is available in India. As this API is only available to use in production for issuers, you can visit the Visa Partner site to partner with an Issuer on using VTC. You are still able to test this API in sandbox.
Along with Visa Transaction Controls, I also recommend looking at Visa Offers Platform
; however, this API is also available only to Issuers and it is a restricted product, so an access request would have to be sent to Developer@visa.com.
The Going Live process is as follows:
- Log in to the Developer Portal
- Click on Create New Project
- Specify Project Name and Project Description
- Select the APIs you are interested in to use in your project
- Select Generate a CSR for me (default) or Submit my own CSR
- 6. In the menu on the left side of the project page, click “Going Live”
- Provide the information requested in the Going Live form, and complete the “Going Live Request Form”
- Click “Submit”
Once completed, your information will be reviewed by our internal teams and either enabled or disabled based on the results of the investigation. Please note, completing this form does not guarantee production access will be granted. All requests to be taken into production require valid Business information to be submitted in the Going Live Request. Failure to use valid information may return an error when completing the form to request Production access.
How to Create a Project - https://developer.visa.com/pages/working-with-visa-apis/create-project
Going Live With Visa Developer Project - https://developer.visa.com/pages/going-live
There is no set timeline on how long it takes the product team to review the going live request, because the request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Hope this helps!
Thanks,
Illana

Re: Visa transaction control API queries
Thanks for the prompt response. We already have our own merchant partnerships for offers and we're also serving the issuers(neobanks rather than actual banks). My problem is due to the the Indian regulations, neobanks are not allowed to get transaction data. We saw fidel (https://fidelapi.com/), a customer of VISA is solving for this using user consent based data sharing.
Would you know what API they're using and can we use that API?

Re: Visa transaction control API queries
Hi @marmikpandya,
Visa Partner Fidel API uses products that are restricted and not available for public use on Visa Developer Portal.
I suggest looking at the Visa Partners that are available in India by filtering the Operating Country/Region.
Thanks,
Illana
